Damaged Tendon

Ponca City Oklahoma Chiropractor Dr. Leon Bristow, D.C. talks about what a damaged tendon is. First we need to understand what a tendon is. A tendon is the connective tissue that delivers the force transmitted by the muscle to the bone. It is the bridge between the muscle and the bone. The tendon is what connects the muscle to the bone at both ends of the muscle. With out this connection the muscle could not deliver its force to the bone. The interesting thing about the tendon is that it is supposed to be the strongest material in the body. This makes it less likely that the tendon will get damaged unless unusual forces are placed upon the tendon rapidly. The most likely sites for damage in a tendon without unusual forces are the two ends of the tendon as these are the weakest points in the structure. Of the two, the connection to bone is likely the easiest to damage. So a tendon is more commonly damaged where the tendon attaches to the bone. Quite often this damaged is refereed to as tendinitis. If we break down this word we see that two parts of the word are tendon and itis which means inflamation or irritation. This basically means that the tendon is damaged or injured which is causing inflamation. The good news is that helping the body to repair the damage is what I specialize in. I use a procedure called Directional Pressure Therapy that is designed to speed the healing and repair of the damaged tissue. DPT is the most advanced therapy in use any where today to help heal the injured tendon.
