Groin Pull

Ponca City Oklahoma Chiropractor Dr. Leon Bristow talks about a groin pull. A pulled groin is damaged tissue in the area where the leg connects to the pelvis in the front of the body. The groin is a common injury for athletes as well as everyone else. This is a key area of support for the body. The force needed to stand up from sitting or go up stairs as well as walk or run must pass through this key area. It is not uncommon to see tendon, ligament, and fascia all involved in this injury. The pelvis is the foundation for the upper body. A groin injury weakens the main support in this foundation. This injury makes it difficult to stand, walk, or get up and down let alone play a sport. One of the main problems in treating groin pain is that the person must use this area every time they get up from sitting as well as when they are standing or walking. If they have to exert any force at all through this area then they keep re-injuring the already damaged pulled groin muscles. A pulled groin can be a very difficult problem to get well.

At my office one of the main things I do different than most is the use of Directional Pressure Therapy which is a specific hands on treatment designed to speed the healing of the damaged tissues. I combine this with restoring the proper nerve function to the damaged tissues with low force adjusting procedures. We also give the patient instructions for home care outside the office which are just a little different as well. I combine this with specific diet and nutritional recommendations. The result is that most groin pulls respond quickly and without complications when all instructions are followed properly. Please call 580-762-7634 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
