Knee Pain
Ponca City Oklahoma Chiropractor Dr. Leon Bristow talks about knee pain. Pain in the knee is a very common problem. The knee is an important joint. It helps get us up and down and it helps us to walk. Many people often jump to the conclusion that because their knee hurts it is worn out and needs to be replaced. Unless you are getting very old this is not likely the case. There are two very common problems that are correctable that may be causing your pain. The first problem is simply the misalignment of the knee joint. If the knee joint is not aligned properly then one side is working against the other side and the knee hurts. This can often happen from a fall or accident of some kind. It can also happen just from twisting or pivoting on the knee. Once the knee gets out of its normal position it can not always get back without help. A very simple correction can have the knee back in its proper place in seconds. Once the knee is back in its proper place the pain in the knee is usually gone. The second problem that causes pain in the knee has to do with the tissues that hold and support the knee and make it move. If you have a knee injury of any kind then it will cause damage to the tissues that support the knee and make it work. If these tissues are damaged then the knee can be in a lot of pain. Damage to these tissues is very common as the knee must lift your body up and down many times every day. This damage often gets worse over time as you keep using your knee to get you up and down as well as moving you from one place to another. Damaged tissue is a problem that I treat every day in practice. Damage tissue in the knee is a treatable and correctable problem. When the proper treatment is given the damaged tissues usually heal very quickly. When the proper treatment is not given the tissues can stay damaged almost indefinitely. Once the tissues are repaired the knee pain is usually gone for good.
