Nutrition
Ponca City Oklahoma Chiropractor Dr. Leon Bristow, D.C. talks about nutrition and how it can help you. It can actually be many things to many people. We will simply define nutrition as all the things you put in your body through your mouth. This would be the foods you eat, the things you drink, and the things you swallow like vitamins and minerals. We can break this down into your diet and any supplements you take. So why are these things important to your health and how are they important to your ability to heal and get you well quickly or at all? If you are trying to build a house and you only have half the bricks you need to build a house it is going to be impossible to finish building the house. If you ordered all the bricks needed one day and the next day they delivered half the brick and said that was all they had. So you call and reorder the rest of the bricks and the next day they deliver half the bricks you reordered and said that was all they had. So you call and reorder the rest of the bricks again and the next day they delivered half the bricks again. Hopefully you start to get the idea. If your body does not have all of what it needs to heal it will slow down or even stop the healing process regardless of what it is missing. The point is that it does not matter what the material is if it is needed to help the healing and repair process and it is not supplied in adequate amounts then the healing process will slow down. The more things that are in short supply, the slower the healing process becomes. The healing process can even come to a complete stop because it does not have enough of some materials. It does not matter if the materials come from the diet or supplements, if they are in low supply or missing then the healing process must slow down or stop. We must supply all the materials in abundance if we want the healing process to continue properly and without delays. So a proper balanced diet is the first place to start. This means you should be eating at least 3 meals per day and getting at least 3 to 5 ounces of protein per meal. Your best sources of protein are meat, eggs, and cheese. It also means we should be eating fruits and vegetables with every meal. Then we should be adding some good fats like a small hand full of nuts or some olive oil, or some avocado with each meal. Balancing the diet should not be a hard thing, it just means we should have a little of each, protein, fats, and fruits and vegetables. Once this is done then we can think about adding any vitamins and minerals that might be needed. Nutrition is one of the areas that I work with those who are injured and trying to heal. The healing process is difficult enough without it being sabotaged by the persons diet. There is no substitute for having the proper materials to repair the body with. Drugs can not take the place of having the right materials to repair with.
