Tendonitis

Ponca City Oklahoma Chiropractor Dr Leon Bristow talks about what tendonitis is and how it can be effectively treated. If we break the word down, the first part is tendon. The tendon is the tissue that connects the muscle to the bone. The next part of the word is itis which means irritation or inflamation. Both of these imply damage or injury to the tendon tissue. It is unlikely that we would have irritation or inflamation in a single location without injury or damage of some kind going on. In this case the injury or damage is to the tendon. The tendon is the bridge that connects the muscle to the bone. The tendon does not supply any power only the muscle does that. It just delivers the force generated by the muscle to hold the bone in place or move the bone. If it is irritated or inflamed that implies that it is damaged or injured. The most common site of injury to the tendon is where it anchors to the bone. The tendon itself is considered to be one of the strongest materials the body has. This makes the main part of the tendon an unlikely spot for damage. The two most likely spots for damage are the two ends of the tendon where it attaches to something else. Of the two, the attachment to bone is where the force supplied by the muscle and delivered to the tendon must change direction. This change of direction of the force delivered to the bone is what makes it the most likely site for injury or damage to the tendon. Thus tendinitis is damage to the tendon where it attaches or anchors to the bone.

So tendinitis is an injury or damage to the tendon where it attaches to the bone. This can often be a very painful condition and difficult to treat. The person often must keep using the injured part of their body which is like picking a scab several times every day. This makes the tendon damage hard to almost impossible to get well. There are several things that must be accomplished in order to help a tendonitis get well. One of the things that must be accomplished is to reduce as much stress on the damaged tendons as possible. Next we must insure that the person has all the proper nutritional support to help the healing and repair of the damaged tendon. Then we must work to help reduce the inflamation from the damaged tendon. And finally we must also do the proper physical work on the tendon to help repair the damaged tissues. The good news is this is what Directional Pressure Therapy was designed to do. Directional Pressure Therapy is the most effective treatment I have seen for tendonitis. The unfortunate problem is that often this condition is not treated or only part of the above is applied and this problem can go on for a very long time. Please follow the link below to Directional Pressure Therapy for more information on how it can help or call 580-762-7634 to find out how I can help you with your problem.
