The loss of weight is something that many people want, the problem is when we think in these terms and use the scale as our yard stick to measure our success of weight loss we do not know what we have lost. Using the scale as our yard stick to measure our success by is a big mistake. We could be losing water, muscle and tissue, or fat. Most people really want to lose fat, not muscle or water. If we focus on the numbers on a scale we will never know what we have lost. There are many dangerous diets out there that can cause you to lose up to 50% muscle. This is very bad as muscle is what burns fat. When you go off of these diets you will gain all the weight back as 100% fat. This is just one of the problems with a bad diet. If the diet does not meet the minimum daily requirements to sustain your body then there can be other problems created by such a diet. The long term consequences of such a diet can be enormous.

If you truly want to “lose weight” we need to learn to think differently. We need to think in terms of fat loss. After all this is your real goal in the first place. We also need to learn how to measure fat loss, not weight loss. We need to learn what are the minimum daily requirements to sustain your body. We need to learn what diets can meet these requirements and are safe to use. We need to learn what are the common foods that most people eat with ever meal which will keep putting on the pounds know mater what diet you use unless the diet eliminates these foods. Hidden sources of high sugar foods can wreck most diets, yet many diets use these foods with most meals. If you want to lose fat a proper diet is a must. There are several good ones out there.

The other way to lose fat as most of us know is exercise. Most people, myself included would prefer not to spend long hours exercising to try and lose fat. Perhaps you are one who can not do any of the different types of aerobic exercise.
