Whiplash

Ponca City Oklahoma Chiropractor Dr. Leon Bristow talks about whiplash. Most people have heard the term whiplash. It is most widely known for being associated with auto accidents. It is commonly thought of as an injury to the neck in an auto accident. The idea for the term comes from the idea of cracking a whip. In an auto accident or any type of acceleration/deceleration trauma the neck acts like the end of the whip when it is being cracked. Actually other body parts can be cracked like a whip as well depending on the type of trauma. In an auto accident the most common is the neck hence the term.

This violent whipping action seen in auto accidents commonly causes damage to the soft tissues of the neck as many of the tissues are rapidly over stretched, shortened, and over stretched again. This violent stretching could cause damage or injury to any of the connective tissues, the tendons, the ligaments, the fascia, and even to the disc on occasion. While not every one that is involved in an auto accident is injured, those that are can have several different reactions. Some start hurting almost immediately while others may not start hurting for days or weeks. This is what causes it to be a complicated problem and often a poorly understood problem as well.

I understand this problem from both sides of the fence. I have been involved in several auto accidents over the years and know what it feels like to be hurting and in pain. I know exactly what you are going through, I have been there. My most recent accident was June of 2006. My car was totaled, my collar bone was broken, my wrist was cracked, and the tissues in my right leg were severely damaged as I was breaking at time of impact.

The good news is that with the Directional Pressure Therapy that I use to help speed the healing of the damaged tissues I often see rapid improvement in auto accident cases and other conditions which are often considered a difficult condition to treat. When combined with the proper home care this can often get the person out of pain very quickly. The procedures I use are the same ones that helped me to make a full recovery. I understand what it takes to help you recover from a trauma like whiplash. To learn more about Directional Pressure Therapy and how it can help you please follow the link below.
